The Rogers Sisters
The Invisible Deck
If burglars were musicians, the bank heist would be the aural equivalent of ‘Frampton Comes Alive’, overambitious and achingly self-referential. Thankfully, then, Brooklyn trio The Rogers Sisters, sound more like a quick and dirty ram raid on the local branch of H Samuel.
Comprising, err, sisters Jennifer and Laura Rogers alongside mate Miyuki Furtado, the band seem intent on doing a smash and grab on every indie disco in the country with their latest offering.
From the foot-tapping call and response posturing of hook-laden opener ‘Why Won’t You?’ to the bowel disrupting bass rumble of count-along rocker ‘The Clock’, ‘The Invisible Deck’ is a brash fusion of Radio 4’s herky jerky neo-Talking Heads groove and The Von Bondies’ head-down, last gang in town garage sound.
A sizzling, danceable slab of prime punk-funk, ‘The Invisible Deck’ is criminally good but thankfully, also legal.
